After 28 years working in the IT and technology industry, I created Catalyst Technology Partners because I kept seeing the same challenge across businesses of very different sizes and sectors.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked across multiple industries and environments — from start-ups and rapidly growing businesses to established organisations going through significant transformation. I’ve seen businesses scale at pace, worked through periods of major change, and helped organisations modernise their technology while keeping day-to-day operations running.
One thing has become increasingly clear to me: many businesses don't lack ambition — they lack a clear technology strategy to support it.
Business owners and leadership teams quite rightly want to focus on what they do best: winning customers, increasing sales, developing their people and growing the business. Technology can often become something that sits in the background. It works, until it doesn't, and investment decisions can become reactive rather than part of the wider business strategy.
That's understandable. A business owner shouldn't need to understand cloud infrastructure, cyber security, data architecture, AI, business systems or the latest technology trends. But as a business grows, the decisions made around those areas can have a significant impact on its growth, resilience, efficiency and stability.
I've seen businesses grow quickly only to discover that their systems, processes and technology haven't grown with them. I've also seen organisations spend significant amounts of money on technology without having a clear strategy for what they are actually trying to achieve.
That is why I founded Catalyst Technology Partners.
My aim is to give business owners and leadership teams access to the type of senior technology leadership and strategic thinking that would normally require employing a full-time CTO, but in a flexible and commercially sensible way.
We don't believe technology strategy should start with buying more technology. It should start with understanding the business: where you are today, where you want to be, what's holding you back and what needs to change to get you there.
Whether that's creating a technology roadmap, improving cyber security, modernising systems, introducing automation and AI, improving data and reporting, or simply providing an experienced technology leader to challenge suppliers and guide investment decisions, our role is to make technology easier to understand and ensure it delivers genuine business value.
Catalyst is also personal to me. After almost three decades in the industry, I wanted to take the experience I've gained from working inside businesses and make it accessible to organisations that may not need — or be ready for — a permanent technology executive.
You focus on growing your business. We’ll make sure your technology is ready to grow with you.
